RULES AND REGULATIONS
GLENLAKES LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION (GLGA)
LEAGUE PLAY:
Wednesday is the designated day for League Play. Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. in spring and summer months and at 9:00 a.m. in fall and winter months unless modified by the Pro-Shop. On special occasions there will be shot-gun starting events. Individual group tee times are assigned by the League Play Chairperson. Each member is responsible for signing up for play in the Pro-Shop. The deadline for sign-up is 5:00 p.m. on the Monday prior to League Play. A $3.00 fee is collected at sign-up; $2.00 is weekly prize money and $1.00 is added to the Tournament of Champions fund. After play, scorecards must be signed, attested, dated and turned in to the League Play Chairperson.
A member will forfeit her entry fee if she fails to cancel by 5:00 p.m. on Monday prior to League Play.
If the game is cancelled for any reason (inclement weather, lack of participation, etc.) it is the player’s responsibility to contact the pro-shop and either collect their entry fee or apply the fee to the next weeks play. There will be no automatic carry over.
PRIZES:
Prize winners for League Play will receive certificates of credit from the Glenlakes Pro-Shop. A list of winners will be posted on the Ladies Locker Room Bulletin Board and published in the local newspapers.
BIRDIES:
Each member will have their own “Bird” for the “Birdie Tree”. It is the responsibility of the League Play chairperson to post the birdie(s) on the “Birdie Tree”, including name, hole # and date. Also, birdies should be highlighted by circling the score on the scorecard.
HANDICAPS:
Members need not adjust scores on their scorecards during league play. The Pro-Shop will make this adjustment at the time of posting. All scores, whether nine or eighteen holes, home or away, must be posted to acquire a true handicap.
To establish a current handicap at Glenlakes Golf Club the member may use the latest U.S.G.A. Index from her “away course”. This index would then be adjusted according to the course handicap table to become a current U.S.G.A. handicap at Glenlakes. In the event the away index is not available, the member may Not participate in League Play winnings until five (5) scores have been posted and handicap is made current. NOTE: The five (5) scores posted need not be league play but “anytime” play. However; Scorecards must be dated and attested by one (1) other player. A maximum handicap of 36 is the most allowed on play days and for all GLGA tournament play unless otherwise specified.
RULES OF PLAY:
All League Play Tournaments and Special Events shall be played according to U.S.G.A. Rules, with the exception of Local Course Rules.
- (A) The ball will be played down unless conditions warrant “Preferred Lies”. Players will be notified by the Pro-shop prior to the competition if these conditions exist. When “Cart Path Only” rule is designated by the Pro-shop, the player may then lift, clean and place the ball through the green.
- (B) Members have the option of using preferred lies during the winter months. Winter months are defined as January, February and March.
- (C) You must play the same ball through the green. Do not change the ball after a tee shot unless the ball is deemed unfit for play, per U.S.G.A. Rules.
- (D) If a rock or stone is interfering with the striking of the ball in a sand trap/bunker, the player may remove the rock or stone with no penalties incurred.
- (E) For all play at this course, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.
- (F) Through the green, a ball that is embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground may be lifted, without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.
- (G) If there is doubt whether a ball is in or is lost in the water hazard on Vista #3, the player may play another ball provisionally under any of the applicable options in Rule 26-1. If the original ball is found outside the water hazard, the player must continue play with it. If the original ball if found in the water hazard, the player may either play the original ball as it lies or continue with the ball played provisionally under Rule 26-1. If the original ball is not found or identified within the five-minute search period, the player must continue with the ball played provisionally.
PACE OF PLAY:
Each member is requested to help speed up play by following these suggestions:
- Be ready when it is your turn to hit.
- Watch your ball and those of your playing partners. Notice where each ball lands and mentally mark the area.
- Putt out when it will not interfere with another player’s line if other players agree.
- If the hole in front of you is open, and you have players waiting behind you, please allow that group to play through.
GUESTS:
Guests are encouraged to play on League Play-day. They will not pay the entry fee and are not eligible for prizes. A guest may play two (2) times per year on League Play-day. Guests must sign-up in the Pro-Shop by the deadline and pay the course rates in effect at that time.
