MINUTES OF QUARTERLY MEETING, MARCH 6, 2010
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER by President Larry Morgan at 7:41 a.m.
MINUTES OF DECEMBER 5, 2009 Minutes were posted on the bulletin board and web site. No corrections or additions to the minutes, they stand approved.
NEW MEMBER RECOGNITION Peter Gingras reported that we have 13 new members: Glenn Capehart, Rodney Church, Don Cook, Bobby Crawford, Roscoe Givens, Doug Harrall, Jim Hassler, Bill MacKay, Steve Quinn, Pat Sullivan, Larry Tyler, Tony Westervelt and David Wood. As of this morning, we have 93 total members.
TREASURER’S REPORT Peter Gingras reported that we had a beginning balance of $3,090.39. We had income of $2,567.00, expenses of $2,072.80, leaving a balance of $3,584.59. We currently have a T.O.C. fund of $283.00 for this year. Larry Morgan stated that the books were audited on March 3, 2010, by Sam Strite and found to be in order.
GLENLAKES GOLF CLUB Tony Westervelt stated that next month is our first Challenge Cup event. It will consist of 8 players in two different divisions. The first division is the Senior Division, which is age 61 and up, and the Regular Division is age 18 to 60. The Team Captain is Denny Kline. We are playing for a regular “CUP”. When play is on our course, we have a by. In order to play in the Challenge Cup, you must qualify. These qualifying rounds will be held monthly. March 16th and 20th are the qualifying rounds to play at Lakewood Golf Course, which is the first Challenge event. Sign-up sheet will be in the Pro Shop.
Tony stated they are starting a year-round membership drive. At the end of the year, whoever has signed up the most members will get the following year’s dues free.
TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS Ron Johnsen stated the end of the year T.O.C. Tournament will be held on December 14th. It will consist of the top 32 money winners who have played on Tuesday and Saturday, and there will be two flights, A & B, with 16 players in each flight. Everyone playing will be paid in cash. If you don’t qualify for this, a Grinder’s Tournament will be held on the same day.
We’ve had four Saturday tournaments so far with 63 players. We’ve had seven Tuesday tournaments with 220 players. We have a total of $329.00 in the T.O.C. fund at this point.
PRESIDENT’S CUP TOURNAMENT Bob Boosveld stated this tournament is scheduled for April 9, 10 and 11. The sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board with all the rules and regulations. There will be no changes this year.
OTHER BUSINESS Jerry DuBose stated the MGA has a hole-in-one club with a $50.00 bar tab. In addition to that, Jerry started a separate hole-in-one club and everybody is invited to join. The cost is $5.00. Right now there’s $315.00 in this hole-in-one club. You have to have two witnesses and it has to be here at Glenlakes.
Larry Morgan stated the sign-up deadlines for the Tuesday and Saturday MGA play are as follows: For the Tuesday tournament the sign-up deadline is Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m, and if you sign up after 4:00 p.m. you will be listed as a stand-by. For the Saturday tournament the sign-up deadline is Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., and if you sign up after 4:00 p.m. you will be listed as a stand-by.
Larry Morgan discussed speed of play, which should be 4 hours 20 minutes, and the use of cell phones on the golf course. Please be courteous. Tony Westervelt stated that when it’s cart path only, it adds between 20 to 25 minutes to a round. Larry Morgan stated we’re going to continue lift, clean and place until we get word that it has been changed for MGA events.
50/50 DRAWING The winning ticket was worth $108.00 and Ed Henson was the winner.
GAME FOR TODAY Ron Johnsen stated we’re playing a four-person team, 36 points, with a team score.
