Bunker Rules until futher notice:

In order to make the bunker play temporary rule more equitable, it has been decided by the MGA that if you are in a bunker you may play the ball as it lies or you may lift the ball, rake the area where it lay and place the ball as close as possible to it's original position.    If the ball is buried in the face of the bunker, you must play the ball as it lies.     This will be in place for all MGA events until further notice.

Thanks,

Larry Morgan, President MGA

Glenlakes MGA Local Rules Governing ALL MGA Event Play

While all MGA event play shall be governed by rules of the U.S.G.A, the following may be deemed as exceptions:

1.    All putts must be putted out.  There are no "gimmes".  The exception is in match play if your opponent concedes a putt to you.

2.    GPS or similar yardage measuring devices may be used in any MGA event.  The exception is any yardage measuring device that also measures wind speed and direction may not be used.

3.    The one ball rule does not apply.  This means that you may use a different style or manufacturer on different holes.  You must however use the same ball from tee until the hole is completed and may not change balls with the exception of a lost ball.

4.    The "embedded" ball rule is any location on the golf course, not just "closely mowed areas", with the exception of hazards.  If your ball is deemed "embedded" by yourself and playing partners, you may lift, clean and place the ball (as close as possible to the original position) no closer to the hole.

5.    Ground under repair is defined by (1) an area circled in white and clearly marked, (2) French drains which are trenches filled with rocks or stones, (3) newly trenched areas, sodded or "environmentally sensitive/protected" areas so deemed and/or roped off by the grounds maintenance crew.  Unless the ball is within the confines of an area that is marked as GUR or defined above, then the ball must be played as it lies.  If the GUR interferes with the players stance or swing and his ball is outside of the confines of the GUR area, then the player may take relief, no closer to the hole within one club length.  On the putting surface, if the GUR interferes with the putting line to the hole, relief may be taken no nearer the hole.

6.    After heavy rains, unrepaired areas within a bunker such as a trench made by water, mud in the bottom of the bunker caused by casual water, washed out areas are all defined as "GUR" although they may not have been marked.   You may take one club relief, no closer to the hole, AND still within the confines of the hazard.  Your playing partners/opponents must deem the area as GUR before you move your ball.  The ball must be dropped not placed when you take relief.

7.    Burrowing animal holes are defined as those made "by an animal (other than a worm, insect or the like)".  Therefore, seasonal mole cricket holes are considered "the rub of the green" similar to an unfilled ball or club divot/mark, and no relief is given should your ball come to rest on, touching or behind a hole or mound made by a mole cricket.

8.    If we are playing “cart path only” or play is designated under "lift, clean and place" then that is defined as the nearest point to your original lie as possible.  Mark your ball with a tee or other marking device.  After it is cleaned replace it as close as possible to your mark no nearer the hole.

9.    Flags or wind vanes that indicate direction of the wind are allowed on golf carts.  Devices that measure the velocity or speed of wind are not allowed.
