A special “Thanks” to Volunteers
Before cleaning out the boxes read below:
Suggestions and instructions for cleaning out boxes
Suggestions
Battery powered screwdriver will be needed to complete the task.
You need a couple of different size screwdriver Phillips head bits. (due to different screw sizes used)
If boxes done in morning make sure there is not a Frost Delay in effect.
Make sure cleaning is done before or after play so as not to interfere with Golfers.
You may want to wear gloves to clean out the boxes.
A paint brush comes in handy and carry a hammer just in case screws are stuck in box
Instructions
I will provide you with the list of names on each box on your Golf hole.
Take box off the tree and take out two screws on top cross bar of roof.
Lift back of lid up and top will come off.
Clean out box and use old tooth brush or paint brush to help clean out.
Put front of lid on first and then put back of lid down.
Reinstall cross bar on top of roof.
Reinstall box on tree and lower to between four (4) and five (5) feet from the ground. (under chin high)
(after reading a lot about Bluebirds most of our boxes are too high off the ground hole under 5 feet)
Check off list if there was a nest was in box or empty.
Check off the list to show box was cleaned and lowered.
Return check off list to Jerry for posting on Web-site.
Report any maintenance problems to Jerry DuBose.
